Dear Desert Sun Athlete,

I am writing to provide you with the options that I have been able to come up with for refunds for Desert Sun 2003. I can only assure you that I did not in the fartherest reaches of my imagination ever believe that Desert Sun would have to be postponed, so I did contract for services and insurance prior to the announcement that Desert Sun would not have enough interest to support the event. Consequently, I did experience expenses associated with Desert Sun. The following are the options that are currently available:

1. You may leave your entry on file until Desert Sun 2004. The exact date of the event has not been set, but I know it will be earlier in the year in order to avoid conflicts with other events. The weather in the Grand Junction area allows us to plan events earlier in the year. The weather will be cooler so, we should attract more athletes. If you elect to leave you entry on file, your 2004 entry will be paid in full.

2. You may request a refund, with the knowledge that I have always advertised the event with a no refund or no bib transfer policy stated on the Sports Connection web site. Therefore, the refund you receive will be determined after I finish negotiations with different agencies that I have already had to pay deposits to in advance in order to insure that services would be available at the event. I am confident that I can announce a refund policy in the next week or two.

I personally, feel very bad about this situation and am attempting to handle this in the best way possible. I do not want to damage the reputation of the event, but I personally can not take on the expense of the event by myself. I ask for your understanding and hope you will return for future Desert Sun events.

Please let me know your preference, leaving you entry on file or requesting a refund.
