As an entrant in the DESERT SUN HALF IRON TRIATHLON on July 19, 1998 an Ironman Qualifier (IQ) event, I understand and will abide by the rules as established by the SPORTS CONNECTION as they pertain to Age Group qualifier slots for the October 3, 1998 HAWAII IRONMAN. I understand that I must either hold a U.S.A. TRIATHLON annual license or purchase a U.S.A. TRIATHLON single event license. I understand that only Age Group Division registered athletes (age 18 and older) are eligible for the Age Group IQ slots awarded at the DESERT SUN HALF IRON TRIATHLON. Athletes holding professional or elite status with U.S.A. Triathlon or any other international triathlon governing body are not eligible for Age Group IQ slots.

Through my performance at the DESERT SUN HALF IRON TRIATHLON, should I acquire an Age Group IQ slot, I understand that I must be present at the awards ceremony to receive the required Ironman documents and that I must remit a non-refundable deposit in the amount of $25.00 at the ceremony. I understand that an unassigned Age Group IQ slot will roll down the order of finishers within the established Age Group IQ awards sex/age bracket. Should there be no possible assignment within that bracket, the slot will be re-assigned to the bracket within the same sex which contains the highest number of registered athletes. IQ slots will not be re-assigned to the other gender.
